Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI)
The Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) is a simple, self-administered, and user-friendly validated questionnaire. It was designed to measure the health-related quality of life of adult patients suffering from a skin disease, not limited to atopic dermatitis (AD). Not only is the CDLQI used routinely for clinical purposes to assist consultation, evaluation, and decision making, but is also one of the most frequently used patient reported outcomes in randomized controlled trials in dermatology. The CDLQI is quite self-explanatory with no need for detailed explanation. Frequent use of CDLQI is not recommended as the time frame of the CDLQI questions is over 1 week.
The CDLQI is designed for patients who aged between age of 4 to 16 years old. For adult patients, click here here to access the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI).

Scoring Principle :

Each question is scored between 3-0 points from left to right. All the above 10 questions must be tallied for an accurate total score between 0-30 points. For question 7, “prevented school” is scored as 3 points. A higher score correlates with a higher impact with the patients’ health-related quality of life. Bandings are established as follows: no effect (0-1); small effect (2-5); moderate effect (6-10); very large effect (11-20); extremely large effect (21-30).

If you are concerned that your eczema may not be well controlled, please seek medical advice. Bring your completed test results with you at your next scheduled consultation and speak to your doctor with the help of the test results to describe how your eczema is affecting you.
